Johnson County Economic Development Center

The Economic Development Center (EDC) is the result of a partnership between Johnson County, Tennessee, and East Tennessee State University (ETSU). This partnership is designed specifically to assist individuals who are seeking to start their own businesses.

Who We Are

The Johnson County Economic Development Center (EDC) is designed to deliver up-to-date counseling, training and technical assistance in all aspects of small business management. Services include, but are not limited to, assisting small businesses with financial, marketing, production, organization, technical problems and feasibility issues. Specialized services and economic development activities include international trade assistance, microenterprise technical assistance, procurement assistance, and capital information. The EDC also make special efforts to reach members of socially and economically disadvantaged groups. Assistance is provided to both current or potential small business owners.

Who We Help

Assistance from an the JCEDC office is available to anyone interested in beginning a small business for the first time or improving or expanding an existing small business, who cannot afford the services of a private consultant. The only restriction is that the client must start a business inside Johnson County, Tennessee or physically reside within the county.

Services

Counseling

One-on-one counseling is provided by individuals who are available to help answer questions, identify problems and find solutions, share knowledge and information, discuss ideas, and provide advice related to virtual any area of business management. Counseling sessions are personalized, confidential and, best of all, free of charge.

Training

Information sessions and workshops provide practical and up-to-date information on business topics ranging from the basics to more advanced business management skills. Instructors include private-sector professionals in areas such as tax liability and business law.

Information

The EDC maintains a wide range of information resources, including high-speed access to the World Wide Web, business software and texts to help entrepreneurs find accurate, thorough and timely information they need to make ideal business decisions.
